Meeting with the Law Secretary of Gujarat

A team from the Research Foundation for Governance: in India had the pleasure of meeting the Law Secretary of Gujarat Shri M. H. Shah on 7th August, 2009.The meeting was successful and Shri Shah was very happy with the work that the Foundation is carrying out in the areas of legal and political reforms. During the meeting, the team had the chance to discuss issues pertaining to: – Improving Legal Education in traditional 3 year law schools in Gujarat – Improving working conditions for the junior lawyers in the Courts in Gujarat – Taking lessons from the preventive medicine to the legal field in order to eradicate frivolous litigation. The Secretary assured the team that the Government will provide encouragement and positively consider various recommendations of the Foundation, which will pertain to legal reforms in the State. RFGI believes it is essential to work with the Government in order to bring about legal reforms in the State and the country and that this association will indeed go a long way!
